In a significant relief for businesses and bulk fuel consumers, the government has lifted restrictions on petrol and diesel sales to commercial and industrial users, effective July 1. The decision comes as fuel supply across the country has stabilized following the easing of geopolitical tensions in the Gulf region and the smooth resumption of shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.

The move marks the end of temporary measures introduced to safeguard domestic fuel availability during a period of uncertainty in global energy markets. Officials said the improved supply situation has restored confidence in the country’s fuel distribution network, making the restrictions no longer necessary.

The restrictions were initially imposed as a precautionary step after rising tensions in the Gulf raised concerns over potential disruptions to oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest energy trade routes. With the possibility of supply interruptions, authorities acted to ensure adequate fuel stocks for essential services and the general public.

Under the temporary rules, petrol and diesel sales to commercial and industrial customers were limited, while fuel stations and distributors were directed to prioritize retail consumers and critical sectors. The measures were aimed at preventing panic buying, managing fuel demand, and maintaining stable supplies across the country.

However, with regional tensions easing and oil tanker movements through the Strait of Hormuz returning to normal, fuel imports have stabilized. The improved fuel supply has strengthened inventories and restored confidence in the availability of petroleum products nationwide.

As a result, the government restrictions lifted from July 1 will allow commercial and industrial consumers to purchase petrol and diesel without the earlier limitations. Businesses that rely heavily on fuel for transportation, manufacturing, construction, and other operations are expected to benefit from the return to normal supply conditions.

Officials emphasized that the decision reflects the resilience of the country’s fuel distribution system and the government’s commitment to maintaining uninterrupted energy supplies. They also noted that authorities will continue to monitor global developments and domestic fuel inventories to respond quickly if market conditions change.

The lifting of the restrictions signals a return to normal operations for the fuel sector and offers reassurance to businesses and consumers alike that the country’s fuel supply remains stable despite recent geopolitical challenges.
