Jammu, April 29: The Union Territory Cabinet of Jammu and Kashmir is scheduled to meet in Jammu today for the last time before the biannual shift of the Civil Secretariat to Srinagar for the next six months
The meeting is expected to deliberate on several significant agenda items, including cadre review and reorganization of the Jal Shakti Department, finalization of Recruitment Rules (RRs) for State Motor Garages, creation of nine posts of District Ayush Officers, and promotion of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officers across multiple ranks.
Sources indicate that the Recruitment Rules for State Motor Garages have been finalized and are likely to receive Cabinet approval for notification. However, the Recruitment Rules related to Jammu Municipal Corporation, which were cleared by the ARI and Trainings Department months ago, are still pending approval.
The Cabinet is also expected to consider a proposal from the Health and Medical Education Department regarding re-designation of faculty positions in Government Medical Colleges across the Union Territory. As per the proposal, Medical Superintendents may be redesignated as Professors, Deputy Medical Superintendents as Associate Professors, and Assistant Medical Superintendents as Assistant Professors.
Another key proposal on the agenda includes the promotion of JKAS officers to the ranks of Under Secretaries, Additional Secretaries, and Special Secretaries.
Notably, the issue of Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees and pensioners—recently revised by the Central Government—is not listed for discussion in this Cabinet meeting.
The meeting assumes significance as it precedes the annual Darbar Move, during which the Civil Secretariat shifts to Srinagar for the summer session.
