JAMMU, Apr 16:
In a significant development, the Supreme Court of India has stayed the operation of a judgment delivered by the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh in a case involving a faculty member of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu.

The case pertains to a faculty member who had reportedly taken up a foreign assignment without obtaining prior permission from the competent authorities.

The Apex Court passed the interim order while hearing a Special Leave Petition filed by Dr Ankur Sharma. A bench comprising Justice M M Sundresh and Justice Prasanna B Varale issued notice to the respondents in the matter.

The Court further directed that the operation of the impugned High Court judgment shall remain stayed until the next date of hearing, which has been scheduled for May 22, 2026.
