Jammu: Labour Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at JK Public School Panjtirthi, with students and staff paying tribute to workers and their contributions to society.
The programme began with student speeches highlighting the importance of labour in nation-building and the need to protect workers’ rights. Students said the day serves as a reminder to honour workers and raise awareness against exploitation.
A skit on child labour was presented during the event, drawing attention to the social issue and leaving a strong impact on the audience.
Suman Bala, the event in-charge, appreciated the participants and shared key messages promoting the dignity of labour, stressing that hard work is essential for progress.
School Principal Suman Banbah addressed the gathering, describing Labour Day as an important occasion to recognise the contributions of workers and their struggle for better working conditions and social justice. She said the celebration aimed to instil respect for labour among students.
As part of the event, the school honoured its fourth-class employees for their dedication and service. The staff members were felicitated individually and given cash awards as a token of appreciation.
The programme concluded with a message of gratitude towards workers for their role in maintaining stability and growth in society.
