New Delhi, March 5: The Government of India on Wednesday categorically denied allegations that the United States Navy is using Indian ports for military operations amid escalating tensions involving Iran, calling the claims “fake and false.”
The clarification was issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) after comments surfaced in an interview on the US-based One America News Network suggesting that American forces were relying on Indian facilities due to constraints in the Gulf region.
In a statement posted by its official Fact Check division, the MEA dismissed the assertions as “baseless and misleading,” urging media outlets and the public not to circulate unverified information. “Claims that Indian ports are being used by the US Navy are fake and false,” the ministry said.
The rebuttal comes at a time of heightened geopolitical tension in West Asia, where military developments have drawn global attention. While India maintains strategic partnerships with multiple countries, officials reiterated that its foreign policy decisions are guided by national interest and sovereignty.
Diplomatic observers say the swift response reflects New Delhi’s intent to curb misinformation and avoid unnecessary speculation during a sensitive international situation.
