JAMMU: Authorities have announced that internet services will continue to operate on 2G speed, while prepaid mobile call services will remain suspended until further notice in certain areas as part of precautionary measures to maintain public order and security.
According to officials, the decision has been taken keeping in view the prevailing situation and the need to prevent the spread of misinformation through digital platforms. While basic internet access will remain available on 2G speed, restrictions on prepaid mobile calling services will continue until further review by the concerned authorities.
Officials said the move aims to ensure that communication channels remain partially functional for essential services while limiting the possibility of misuse of high-speed internet during sensitive situations.
