New Delhi, February 27: In a significant development in the politically sensitive liquor policy case, a court on Thursday discharged former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, declining to take cognisance of the chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The court ruled that the material placed on record was insufficient at this stage to proceed against the two senior leaders, effectively granting them relief in the high-profile case that has stirred intense political debate. The decision comes as a setback to the CBI’s prosecution in the alleged irregularities linked to the now-scrapped excise policy.

The case has been a flashpoint in national politics, with the opposition alleging political vendetta, while investigative agencies have maintained that due process was followed.
