Gurdaspur, Feb 22: Two Punjab Police personnel were found shot dead at a police checkpost in Gurdaspur district, close to the Indo-Pak border, on Sunday, officials said.
The deceased have been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Gurnam Singh and Home Guard Ashok Kumar. Both were posted at the Adhian checkpost, located nearly 2 km from the international border.
According to police sources, the bodies were discovered inside a room at the checkpost. Senior officers rushed to the spot after the incident came to light.
Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Further details are awaited as the probe is underway.
