LG Calls for Decisive Action, Public Support to Eradicate Terror; Inaugurates J&K Police Martyrs Memorial Hockey Tournament

JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday called upon the Jammu and Kashmir Police to continue taking decisive action against terrorism and work closely with people from all sections of society to eliminate the terror network completely.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the J&K Police Martyrs Memorial Hockey Tournament at KK Hakku Hockey Stadium, Jammu, the Lieutenant Governor said that the police force has shown unwavering courage and determination in the face of challenges. He said the message of J&K Police to the nation is clear — adversity cannot weaken their resolve and they will continue to achieve new milestones.

The tournament, being organised after a gap of more than ten years, will witness participation from 14 teams.

Paying tribute to the martyrs of J&K Police, the Lieutenant Governor said the brave personnel who sacrificed their lives for the nation placed duty and national honour above everything else. He said their sacrifices must always be remembered and serve as inspiration for future generations.

He added that true tribute to the martyrs lies in carrying forward their values of duty, courage, and selfless service, and in building strong character among the youth.

The Lieutenant Governor also appreciated the J&K Police for empowering youth through the Civic Action Programme, stating that the initiative helps strengthen trust between the police and society and contributes to lasting peace through community participation.

Calling for collective efforts against drug abuse, he urged all sections of society to join the fight and reiterated the administration’s commitment to making Jammu and Kashmir drug-free.

He further assured that the UT administration and J&K Police remain committed to supporting youth by creating better opportunities, providing platforms for talent, and guiding young people towards a positive future.

Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Special DG (Coordination) S.J.M. Gillani, Commandant General Home Guards, Civil Defence & SDRF Abdul Ghani Mir, ADGP Armed Police Anand Jain, senior police and civil administration officers, members of hockey associations, and prominent sports personalities were present on the occasion.
