JAMMU, Apr 16:
In a major relief for students across Jammu & Kashmir, admissions to Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUGP) and Integrated Postgraduate courses for the 2026–27 academic session will be conducted without CUET.

According to an advance admission awareness notice issued by the Directorate of Colleges, Higher Education Department, admissions to all Government Degree Colleges in the Union Territory will now be based solely on Class 12 merit.

To streamline the process, the department will introduce a centralised admission portal. Students will be required to register online and submit their applications through this portal. The link and detailed registration guidelines will be announced separately.

As per the notice, applicants will need to fill in their preferred courses and colleges, and seat allotment will be carried out based on their merit and preferences.

The department further stated that the complete admission schedule, including registration dates, choice filling, allotment rounds, and fee submission timelines, will be notified in due course.

In terms of eligibility, students who have passed or appeared in Class 12 examinations from JKBOSE, CBSE, or any recognised board are eligible to apply.

It is noteworthy that last year, admissions in 39 colleges across Jammu & Kashmir were conducted through CUET, marking a significant shift in the admission process this year.
