Jammu, Apr 13: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Monday announced that the Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 will commence in late June, with Manoj Sinha detailing a series of measures aimed at ensuring a safe and well-organized pilgrimage.

Speaking on the preparations, the Lieutenant Governor said the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine will continue for around 45 to 60 days, concluding on Shravan Purnima. The Pratham Puja, which marks the ceremonial beginning of the Yatra, will be performed ahead of the official opening, as per tradition.

Authorities said pilgrim registration will be conducted through both online and offline modes. While the online facility will be available on the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board portal, offline registration will take place at designated bank branches across the country. Officials noted that banks will play a critical role in issuing permits, verifying documents and managing the daily quota of pilgrims. A valid health certificate will remain mandatory for all applicants.

Highlighting safety arrangements for the Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, officials said RFID-based tracking will be implemented for all pilgrims to enable real-time monitoring. Insurance coverage has also been enhanced to provide better financial protection in case of emergencies. Medical teams, emergency response units and support staff will be deployed along both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes.

The administration has also focused on improving Yatra facilities this year. Officials said power supply systems have been strengthened and additional lighting will be installed along key stretches of the route to improve visibility and safety. Trekking paths have been upgraded, and necessary measures are being taken to deal with weather-related challenges.

In line with digital initiatives, services such as mobile-based updates, online assistance and tracking systems will be made available to pilgrims. These steps are expected to streamline communication and improve overall coordination during the Yatra.

Accommodation arrangements have been expanded to cater to the expected influx of devotees. Temporary shelters, sanitation facilities and lodging at base camps including Baltal and Pahalgam are being upgraded. Authorities added that arrangements for food, water supply and transport are also being strengthened.

Officials urged devotees planning to undertake the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 to complete their registration in advance and follow all prescribed guidelines to ensure a smooth and secure pilgrimage.
