Kathua, April 06 (News Update):
The District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) for Nutrition Procurement under ICDS (Poshan) convened a meeting to review the implementation of the Supplementary Nutrition Programme in Kathua, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma.

The meeting conducted a detailed assessment of procurement processes, quality standards, distribution mechanisms, and monitoring systems to ensure the timely supply of nutritious food to children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers through Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) across the district.

Emphasizing strict adherence to quality parameters, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials to conduct regular field inspections of AWCs to ensure food quality, hygiene, and nutritional standards are maintained without compromise. He also stressed the need for convergence among ICDS, Health, Education, and allied departments to ensure effective and seamless service delivery.

The Committee further reviewed its mandate and composition, reaffirming a multi-sectoral approach involving line departments and community representatives to strengthen nutrition governance and outreach.

Earlier, Programme Officer ICDS Mohammed Syed presented a comprehensive overview of Poshan activities, highlighting operational projects, functional AWCs, and beneficiary coverage across the district.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Ranjeet Thakur, District Social Welfare Officer, CDPOs, and other committee members.
