Jammu, March 31: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday announced that the government is committed to filling 25,000 vacancies in 2026, emphasizing a transparent and time-bound recruitment process.

Speaking in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister reiterated the administration’s resolve to address unemployment and strengthen the public sector workforce.

Recruitment Drive to Fill 25,000 Posts

Responding to queries from MLA Pulwama Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, Omar Abdullah said the issue has been widely discussed during the ongoing Assembly session.

“This matter has been discussed several times during this session, including discussions on the Lieutenant Governor’s address, the budget, and grants,” he stated.

Focus on Transparency and Timely Process

The Chief Minister stressed that while the recruitment process will be time-bound, it will not be rushed at the cost of fairness.

“Time-bound does not mean that the process should be conducted in a hurried manner, which could result in the matter reaching the courts and the process being halted,” he said.

Avoiding Legal Delays in Recruitment

Highlighting past challenges, Omar Abdullah pointed out that several recruitment lists had previously faced legal hurdles, causing long delays.

“We have seen selection lists being framed and then challenged in courts. In many cases, it took a long time to resolve, and applicants became overage and missed opportunities,” he added.

Balanced Approach to Hiring

The government, he said, aims to strike a balance between speed and legal soundness, ensuring that recruitment is both efficient and dispute-free.
