Udhampur, March 27:
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting with officers of various line departments to discuss the formulation of a comprehensive action plan under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) for the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh, Programme Officer Poshan Subash Dogra, General Manager DIC Kishore Singh Katoch, along with other senior officials.
Reviewing the ongoing activities under the Abhiyan, the Deputy Commissioner directed all stakeholder departments to prepare Panchayat- and habitation-wise action plans for an intensive three-month anti-drug campaign across the district.
Emphasizing the need for grassroots-level outreach, he instructed departments to activate field staff and conduct widespread awareness programmes to educate the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse. He also stressed ensuring active community participation and promoting awareness about various government welfare schemes.
The Deputy Commissioner further directed the District Youth Services and Sports Office (DYSSO) to organize mega sports events focused on anti-drug awareness, aiming to positively engage youth and channel their energy towards constructive activities.
The initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to combat drug abuse and build a drug-free society through coordinated efforts at the grassroots level.
