Nashik, March 25: The Sarkarwada Police in Nashik have registered two additional rape cases against arrested astrologer Ashokkumar Kharat, further intensifying the investigation into the serious allegations against him.
According to police officials, one of the newly registered cases stems from a complaint filed by Kharat’s former employee. In the complaint, the employee alleged that the astrologer sexually assaulted his seven-month pregnant wife between November 2023 and December 2025, allegedly on the pretext of performing spiritual rituals.
In another case, a woman accused Kharat of repeatedly sexually assaulting her between February 2020 and March 2026, claiming he lured her by promising to secure a bright future after she went through marital discord and divorce.
The complainant further alleged that when she became pregnant, the accused sedated her and terminated the pregnancy without her consent, police said.
Ashokkumar Kharat was initially arrested on March 17 in connection with the first rape case and is currently in police custody as the investigation continues.
Police officials said further inquiries are underway and more details are expected as the probe progresses.
