JAMMU, Feb 9: BJP MLA from Billawar, Satish Sharma, raised a supplementary question in Dogri during the Question Hour in the Legislative Assembly on Monday, leading to brief remarks from the Chair and the Chief Minister.
Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather informed the MLA that the proceedings were not being recorded as the question was raised in a language that could not be fully understood for official recording purposes.
Responding to the matter, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who also holds charge of the Power Development Department (PDD), said that while he had already submitted a written reply to the question, he was unable to fully understand the language used. He remarked that if the MLA’s intention was to seek an answer, it would be difficult to respond; however, if the objective was to have the exchange captured on video, that purpose had already been achieved.
Following the remarks, the BJP MLA raised his supplementary question again in Hindi.
