The meeting was attended by the Superintending Engineer, PWD, along with officers from various stakeholder departments.
During the meeting, a comprehensive discussion was held on key issues including removal of dumped construction material from city areas, strict implementation of the Motor Vehicles Act, and identification of accident-prone black spots.
The committee also deliberated on equipping ambulances with trauma kits, enforcing traffic regulations more effectively, and adopting measures to minimise road accidents.
Special focus was laid on regular road maintenance, checking overloading and over-speeding, curbing rash driving, and conducting sustained public awareness campaigns.
Other important aspects discussed included improving traffic management systems, decongesting busy routes, monitoring school buses, installing proper road signage, and carrying out safety audits of major roads.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for close coordination among departments, timely execution of safety-related works, and regular monitoring of vulnerable stretches.
He also emphasised organising road safety awareness programmes in colleges and educational institutions to sensitise youth.
The Executive Engineers of PWD and PMGSY were directed to ensure proper maintenance of roads and to identify accident-prone locations. They were instructed to undertake corrective measures such as installation of signboards, road markings, and crash barriers at vulnerable spots to prevent mishaps.
