Secretary Information Technology Department Dr Piyush Singla chaired a high-level meeting to review the hiring process and operationalisation of MeghRaj Cloud Services, a major initiative aimed at modernising Jammu and Kashmir’s IT ecosystem.

The initiative is part of the National Informatics Centre Services Incorporated (NICSI) MeghRaj Cloud Initiative, which is designed to provide scalable, secure and cost-effective cloud infrastructure for government departments.

The project aims to enable seamless digital governance, efficient data management and improved service delivery across various departments in Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by the CEO of Jammu and Kashmir e‑Governance Agency, Special Secretary IT Department, Deputy Secretary IT Department, representatives from National Informatics Centre (NIC), NICSI and other senior officials.

During the meeting, officials reviewed the current status of the project, implementation timelines and challenges related to the deployment of MeghRaj Cloud services.

Dr. Piyush Singla emphasised the importance of holding regular meetings of the cloud committee to ensure steady progress and maintain momentum in the implementation process.

He also stressed the proper utilisation of allocated resources, smooth onboarding of cloud services for eligible departments and strengthening cybersecurity and data protection measures.

MeghRaj will be a game-changer for Jammu and Kashmir, reducing dependency on legacy systems and fostering innovation in public service delivery,” Dr. Singla said.

Officials said the successful execution of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will enable government departments to migrate workloads to cloud platforms, improving data security, disaster recovery capabilities and real-time analytics.

In the upcoming phases, the IT Department will focus on capacity building and implementation of strong cybersecurity protocols.

The department reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating digital transformation in Jammu and Kashmir, aligning with national objectives under the Digital India programme.
