LG Attends Sant Kabir’s Nirvan Diwas Commemorative Event in Jammu
JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday called upon people to harness collective strength for societal transformation and work towards building a prosperous India capable of guiding the world towards peace and harmony.
The Lieutenant Governor was addressing a commemorative programme organised on the occasion of the 508th Nirvan Diwas of Sant Kabir at Chak Avtara, Bishnah, Jammu. The event was organised by Shiromani Sant Kabir Bhavan.
Highlighting the enduring relevance of Sant Kabir’s teachings, the Lieutenant Governor said that the saint’s timeless wisdom continues to illuminate society’s path by fostering unity, social harmony and spiritual awakening. He observed that Sant Kabir’s philosophy remains deeply relevant in contemporary times, inspiring society to reconnect with its moral and spiritual foundations.
Emphasising India’s unique civilisational strength, the Lieutenant Governor said the country’s ability to harmonise technology with tradition, and modern innovation with ancient wisdom, provides a strong foundation for success and prosperity in the 21st century. He noted that India’s rich spiritual heritage and enduring values position it to contribute meaningfully to global peace and development.
Referring to the timeless principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” — the world as one family — the Lieutenant Governor said the philosophy holds unprecedented relevance in today’s global context marked by economic and strategic divisions. India’s civilisational ethos, he added, offers a vision rooted in unity, peace and collective well-being.
The Lieutenant Governor also urged all sections of society to fulfil their shared responsibility in eliminating economic disparities and social divisions, while embracing inclusion and constitutional values to achieve lasting harmony.
Responding to public demands raised during the event, he reiterated the Government of India’s commitment to addressing issues related to reservation in promotion and the declaration of a gazetted holiday on Sant Kabir Jayanti in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Among those present on the occasion were Dr Rajeev Bhagat, Member of Legislative Assembly from Bishnah; Faqir Chand Bhagat, Chairman, Shiromani Sant Kabir Bhavan; Vipen Kumar, Chairman of All Jammu Based Reserved Category Employees Association, senior officials, prominent citizens and members of the public from various sections of society.
