District Development Commissioner Ayushi Sudan on Sunday chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of the Vibrant Village Programme-II in Samba district, stressing timely implementation and improved service delivery.

During the meeting, the DDC directed designated village nodal officers to conduct regular field visits to monitor ongoing initiatives and ensure that developmental gaps are effectively addressed at the grassroots level.

She emphasized that the programme aims for 100 percent saturation of social security schemes, assured access to safe drinking water for all households, and comprehensive health screening, including non-communicable diseases, women and child health issues, and the TB Mukt Bharat initiative.

Highlighting the need for infrastructure development, she called for the establishment of Model Anganwadis and construction of new Panchayat Bhawans wherever required in the identified villages.

To strengthen livelihoods, the DDC stressed effective implementation of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme, with a focus on high-density plantation, cultivation of crops like dragon fruit and strawberry, and initiatives under Mission Yuva.

She also underlined the importance of convergence of various government schemes to meet the specific needs identified in the selected villages under the programme.

In a separate review, the DDC assessed the functioning of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the district. She directed officials to complete all houses under PMAY-U Phase-I within one month.

The civic bodies were also instructed to organize awareness camps to ensure maximum coverage of eligible beneficiaries under PMAY-U 2.0 and the PM-SVANidhi scheme. The meeting further reviewed the status of building permissions and outsourcing of manpower for maintaining cleanliness in urban areas.

The meeting was attended by senior district officials, including the Chief Planning Officer (CPO), Additional Deputy Commissioner (ACR), Sub-Divisional Magistrates of Ghagwal and Vijaypur, nodal officers, and representatives from Urban Local Bodies.
