Bhubaneswar, April 09: The Odisha Vigilance has arrested Rajesh Chandra Mohanty, Additional Chief Engineer (Dam Safety), on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The arrest comes in the wake of extensive searches carried out at multiple properties linked to the senior engineer, during which officials allegedly unearthed substantial unaccounted assets.

According to Vigilance sources, the assets detected include a multi-storeyed residential building in Bhubaneswar, a farmhouse featuring a double-storeyed structure spread over approximately 4,000 square feet on 1.71 acres of land, and eight plots.

In addition, deposits exceeding ₹1.81 crore, cash amounting to ₹6.23 lakh, around 350 grams of gold, and two four-wheelers were also recovered during the raids.

Based on these findings, a case has been registered at the Cuttack Vigilance Police Station under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018.
