Jammu, Feb 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Wednesday informed the Assembly that the report prepared by the Cabinet Sub-Committee on reservation has been approved by the Cabinet and forwarded to the Centre, and will be made public once a final decision is received.
The government had constituted the Cabinet Sub-Committee on December 10, 2024, to examine grievances raised by various sections of aspirants regarding the existing reservation policy in the Union Territory. The report was subsequently submitted to the Lieutenant Governor after Cabinet approval.
Replying to the discussion on demands for grants pertaining to the departments of Health, Social Welfare, and Education in the Assembly, Education Minister Sakeena Itoo said the government had adopted a serious and consultative approach in addressing the reservation issue, ensuring that the interests of the youth remained central to its deliberations.
“After detailed Cabinet discussions and approval, the report was submitted to the Lieutenant Governor. As mentioned by the Chief Minister in his speech here the day before yesterday, the Lieutenant Governor has forwarded it to the Union Home Minister,” she said.
Itoo added that once a decision is taken at the Centre and the file is returned, the report will be placed in the public domain.
