NEW DELHI, Mar 12: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued an advisory directing all milk producers and vendors to obtain mandatory FSSAI registration or license before starting or continuing their food business operations.

According to the advisory, the requirement applies to all milk producers and milk vendors who are not members of dairy cooperative societies. Such operators must secure the necessary FSSAI registration or license in accordance with food safety regulations to legally operate in the dairy sector.

The move aims to strengthen food safety standards, improve traceability of milk supply, and ensure quality control in the dairy industry across the country.

Officials stated that businesses involved in the production, handling, distribution, or sale of milk must comply with the regulations laid down under the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006.

The advisory further emphasized that operating a milk-related business without valid FSSAI registration or license may attract legal action under the provisions of the Act.

The directive is part of FSSAI’s ongoing efforts to regulate the dairy supply chain and ensure safe and hygienic milk for consumers across India.
