Jammu, Mar 16: President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Farooq Abdullah, on Monday said that the government led by Omar Abdullah is setting a new benchmark for transparent and people-centric governance in Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah made these remarks while interacting with party functionaries at his residence in Srinagar.
During the interaction, he said that since assuming office, the Omar Abdullah-led administration has taken decisive steps to strengthen governance, revive public institutions, and address the pressing concerns of the people across the Union Territory.
He further stated that the government is working with dedication to improve service delivery, accelerate development, and restore public confidence in democratic institutions. According to him, good governance, transparency, and accountability remain the core priorities of the present administration.
Dr. Abdullah also emphasised that the government is committed to ensuring that development benefits reach every section of society in Jammu and Kashmir.
Highlighting the importance of political empowerment, he reiterated that the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir would allow the elected government to function with greater authority and efficiency.
He said that the return of statehood would enable the government to take stronger policy decisions, accelerate development initiatives, and strengthen democratic governance, helping the region achieve new heights of progress and prosperity.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah also urged party workers to remain actively connected with the people and to highlight the government’s initiatives and achievements at the grassroots level.
Among those present during the interaction were senior party leaders Muhammad Khalil Bandh, Nizam Ud Din Bhat, Javed Ahmad Mirchal, Safdar Ali Khan, along with Deepak Mahajan, Vijay Kumar and Shiri Moneesh.
