JAMMU: The Directorate of Accounts and Treasuries (DGAT) has rejected recent media reports alleging delays in contract payments, stating that the claims are “false and inaccurate.”

In an official statement issued in Jammu, the department clarified that all liabilities related to contract payments have already been cleared and there is no backlog at the treasuries.

According to the DGAT, the treasury system is functioning smoothly and all eligible claims have been processed as per established financial procedures. The department stressed that the reports suggesting payment delays do not reflect the actual situation.

“The fact is that the department has released full funds under Capex,” the statement said, referring to allocations made under the Capital Expenditure (Capex) funds.

Officials further noted that the Finance Department Jammu and Kashmir has released the full Capex allocation, ensuring that funds are available for timely processing of contract-related payments.

The DGAT also appealed to media organisations to include the Finance Department’s perspective when reporting on financial matters, saying that balanced and professional reporting is essential for accurate public information.

The department reiterated its commitment to transparent financial management and said verified information should guide public discourse on government payment systems.
